Edwards and Panthers coach John Fox played together at San Diego State and remain good friends.The firing of Edwards is just the beginning of this story. ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting the team is talking to former Denver coach Mike Shanahan.

    Herm seems like a good choice, but I don't think he's ever been a defensive coordinator.
