    Stewart signed
Submitted by Darin on Sat, 2008-07-26 08:35.
RB Jonathan Stewart has signed his contract this morning and will make the first practice of training camp. The deal was finalized this morning, meaning he will miss no time.
To make room on the roster for Stewart and Jeff Otah the Panthers released LB Brandon Jamison and RB Alex Haynes.
More to come on this story...

Haynes was fun while it lasted. Jamison may be the lightest LB I've ever seen.

Glad they got them in, two first rounders in on time is good work.

I agree. Great work getting Otah and Stewart signed.

Distractions for the team seems to be at a minimum this year, unless a Dollhouse opens up somewhere near Wofford.

valuation is base $14 mil, with $10.8 mil in guarantees (which can't all be coming in year 1) and a max incentive value of $20 mil

I do not like heavy incentive contracts (probably due to how much trouble Weinke's caused), but I figured that was the hold-up.

Where are we as far as the cap? With the competition, each year a few quality players get cut from other teams during camp. Maybe it's not too late to pick up another decent backup in the secondary or OL/DL.

We have almost no room left while many teams have $12 million or more, so if a good player gets cut, we have no chance unless he chooses us over money.

Don't know exactly where we are, but we aren't going to be in the market for anything at this point. We also moved a lot less into future years than in years past, so we have flexibility.

it's got to suck for Jamison & Haynes to unpack all their shit yesterday and pack it back up today while everyone else is practicing... it'd piss me the fuck off
