I'm not a big fan of McCarver...never have been. How does this guy still have a job?

The guy can be a bit annoying at times but I appreciate his knowledge of the game. Overall I don't mind him at all.

He's a clueless hack. Sounding like a know-it-all is his game. He can't even correctly call what's happening on the field right in front of him, much less get facts straight on non-baseball related stuff he tries to sound smart about.

BTW, Timmy boy, Sinclair Lewis didn't write The Jungle.

Tom Brokaw told the country last night that Tim Russert was in New York in 1968 at Woodstock.

Tim McCarver is one of the most knowledgable broadcasters EVER. The problem is that most listeners have no clue about the game.

Oh yeah, he's full of insightful gems.....

"If you leadoff and you play every day, you're guaranteed to bat with the bases empty at least 162 times." - July 8th, 2006

"Roy Oswalt is a drop and drive pitcher. What is a drop and drive pitcher? He is a guy who drops and drives. Very simple." - WS Game 4, 10/26/05

That shit takes deep baseball knowledge few can hope to understand.

Bob Gibson knew it early. Another quote from McDipshit.......

"I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter; that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit."

    Loads of gems

    Even More McDumbass

edit - Had to add a couple more deeply insightful gems......

"It's better to have a fast runner on base than a slow one." - 2004

"Pitching is such a vital part of the game, as far as winning is concerned" - 8/19/06

Those who have no clue about the game are the ones who think McCarver is ok. His buffoonery only bothers you if you know enough to recognize it.

McCarver has forgotten more baseball than most of you will ever know!
