Not at all. Thread is starting to get a bit more confrontational including my mini-rant on reprecussions. I need to give it a rest. I can only play nice for so long.

 

When you post obvious falsehoods such as this, it is no surprise emotions rise. If a scientist has a "belief" then he is not following the professional path he has chosen to follow for his study and his salary. The converse is NOT true for believers. Science is based in evidence and reproduceability. Religion is not. How many more times does that need to be said before you guys get it?

I agree. And a scientist will say the simple phrase "I don't know" rather than create some vengeful supernatural creature seemingly overly interested in a particular life form on a particular backwater planet in a mediocre galaxy.

 

Great, so we cannot yet prove gravity, so you would say that you don't know if it exists?

 

Yes but the simple reality is this...you have absolutely no clue what lead to the creation of the universe. No one does. There is an utter lack of evidence for anything and in the absolute absence of evidence all possibilities carry equal merit.

The difference between you and I is that I am willing to admit the possibility there is no God. It is simply my personal belief that there is. You are flawed in that respect.

 

really? you give equal weight to genesis as you do to the various scientific explanations? and of course, you also give equal weight to the various other creation stories, too, right? there's got to be thousands of them that have been recited and an infinite number of variations that nobody has yet considered.

 

we don't know everything there is about gravity, but we do know that pretty much everybody who's run an experiment testing gravitational forces comes up with some pretty regular results. the only consistent results from experiments designed to measure the supernatural all end up being that there is no supernatural.

 

I suppose you have negative reactions to a place Jesus refers to as Gehenna or "Hell."

 

Absolutely. All explanations have equal merit.
