All you "experts" who wanted to start Moore

Vinney's still got the arm at 44, love to watch passes that look like passes and get there fast.

 

I liked Vinny's statement on Panther's gameday, said he thought he overthrew Smitty. Smitty then came back and told him he couldn't overtrow him, said he believes him now.

 

Are you kidding me? An undrafted rookie with less than 5 minutes of NFL experience was better "on paper" than a guy with 20 years of NFL experience? I know you're in the media and we shouldn't expect much, but you do take time away from all the hockey coverage to watch football, right? I've been watching this game for over 30 years, and an undrafted rookie with no experience is NEVER the better option, especially one that wasn't even on the team in TC.

 

Come on MC. He's been in team meetings for 5 weeks now and thrown 2 NFL passes. That trumps 20+ years of NFL experience right?

 

He is when the 20 year vet has had two days with his new team and hasn't seen meaningful action in 23 months, which makes Vinnie's performance all the more amazing. The coaches never should have pushed that on him in my opinion.

As for the games going forward, Testaverde clearly has sufficient arm strength, but his immobility and declining accuracy make him something of a risk. The inevitable physical failings of one's forties are what would seem to give Moore an advantage on paper, even given his inexperience. It's somewhat odd that you would be so vehemently against him after singing his praises a week ago, but perhaps that is in reaction to me pointing out how you were over-estimating Moore.

 

Granted Testaverde isn't going to have any 100 yard rushing games but he was pretty damn accurate today and if not for drops by Colbert and Foster, and the PI call on Carter in the endzone that wasn't called he would have had even better stats. He was putting the ball where it needed to be on short and long routes.
