The NCAA won't even allow you to start out in D1-A will they? D1-AA is what we are aiming for, with us moving up to D1-A after that.

Your right, it is unrealistic to think you can just assemble a team and be good. I think you have to at least give it 4-5 years to expect some success (D1-AA Playoffs). With a powerhouse of a HS next to us, it shouldn't be that hard to pull out a few good players out of there.

Actually it's not. Where are you getting your figures from? $500 from every student @ 30,000 is 15 million/year. That would be more than enough for us to start up a program at D1-AA. That isn't even counting Alum donations & Corporate sponsors. We'll probably end up getting about $300 per student which would be 9 million/year. That's still enough, the only big one time cost would be stadium.

$3,400 from 30,000 students is 102 million/year. If you think that much is needed for football, you are also on crack my friend.

i meant to say $300,400 as in 3 to 4 hundred. but that aside, I support a football team at UNCC and I think that they can get one. I just don't think that people should get their hopes up about having a football powerhouse. And that school just down the road? do you think that those kids are going to chose UNCC over the likes of App, G. Southern, or Furman? not to mention they are going to have to recruit against the Division I-A teams around the area. UNCC can be successful, but it will take much longer than 4-5 years to even be good in Div. 1-AA. It will take a bare minimum of 15-20 years for UNCC to become a decent Division I-AA football program. But best of luck, I hope the best for Charlotte, I think that a good football team there could create some great rivalries.

Fact is, I have talked to players from that school and asked them this various question (as have alumni and other students). And especially if we get a certain coach from that school to be the HC.
