It's been two days since the upset and the talking heads at ESPN still cannot pronounce Appalachian State. Worst off, they are acting as if ASU is a creampuff Div II school that should have bowed down to Michigan. One analyst tried to credit App and state that they are as good if not better than half of the Division I schools and he was shouted down by the other analysts. ESPN, stop making excuses for Michigan and deal with the scoreboard.

You must be watching First Take...I heard Skip Bayless, who's usually crazy when it comes to his knowledge of things, giving App St. a lot of love and saying that maybe this wasn't as bad an "upset" as everybody is making it out to be.

This is the one problem with such a great story, that you get people who really don't know anything coming out of the woodwork, deluded into thinking that one win makes Appalachian State a top program regardless of divisions. It doesn't, and it was a monumental upset.

Who honestly believes that the Mountaineers would have won if the game was five quarters instead of four? ASU was clearly running out of gas, and clearly was not even close to the most talented team on the field. They played very well in the first half and barely hung on for the victory thanks to some awful special teams blocking, but mostly the same squad lost to a pretty bad N.C. State team last season. The Michigan victory does not make them equal to even an average Division 1-A team, and people shouldn't ruin the moment by pretending otherwise.

It was a great victory and a phenomenal upset. Just leave it at that.

I downloaded the game since I couldn't watch it on saturday. I think it's true that this game would have turned out differently if it wasn't the first game of the season. michigan didn't give a shit about playing app and they lost. Even if this game happened a few weeks from now, they'd be more focused on playing and in better form. There was a lot of things michigan did poorly that happens in the first game, which is why teams have cupcakes for week 1 in the first place. It's the preseason for a lot of teams.

App did what it had to for the win, but the loss is very much on michigan not being prepared to play little nobody app state. Horrible coaching at every level.

ASU should have blown UM away. If the two interceptions by ASU in the second half had not happened which were running route mistakes, ASU would have piled on the points. Armanti threw it straight to defenders b/c his receiver was not where he was supposed to be. The defenders were even surprised. The game will be replayed on FSN on Tuesday night.

Lou Holtz is an old, useless fucking idiot. I can't believe someone would have given him a job in television. He's terrible.

Even if Michigan had made that fieldgoal and won by one, it would still have been considered an upset.
