Usually I don't care at all about the supplemental draft, but living down here in Athens, GA I just got word that Paul Oliver (CB at UGA) is academically ineligible and will enter the supplemental draft. He was Mel Kiper's #1 CB for the 2008 draft. I say we grab him. We could always use some DB's.

How does it work? If someone takes him in Round 1, they forfeit next year's first round pick? If he is the #1 cb I'd imagine someone will take him, I just wonder which round. If we could get him in the 3rd I'd be all for it, seems to be our worst round save for Smitty (although you could argue 2nd round has sucked pretty bad too).

    DJ beat my post

Panthers would have to give up a draft pick next season

Same round that they draft Oliver in the supplemental draft

He would have to be some kind of good

3rd round worthy. Never spend a 1st rounder in supplemental. 3rd is the best I'd give up.

Yeah, I didn't know about how it works with the trades but it probably isn't worth it. He was pretty much a sure fire 1st round or 2nd round pick in next year's draft. We are so weak at safety that is the only way I could see us trading up to get him is if he was a safety.

Maryland OT Jared Gaither is expected to enter the NFL's Supplemental Draft if he's not reinstated from suspension by the school. Scout.com reports Gaither will meet with Terrapin officials this week.
