No kidding, he could have trimmed some cash in numerous other ways to forestall a cap deficiency that requires us lowering the talent level.

So now we have a serious gamble at MLB and are gonna weaken the middle further? Less than Jenks and no Morgan really degrades us.

:50: If hurney decide to trade jenx b/c of salary cap issues. He should have dealt with buffalo. They gave philly LB spikes and QB holcomb for DT walker. Hurney would have killed two birds with one stone and save some cap room(CARR). Oh well, we definately have reactionary people running the panthers.

what happened to "price controlled labor"? That deal gives us two picks in the top half of the 1st.

Just some food for thought on third round draft picks....

1996 - pick 73 Winslow Oliver RB, pick 88 JC Price DL
    1997 - pick 87 Kinnon Tatum LB
1998 - pick 62 Chuck Wiley DE, pick 73 Mitch Marrow DL
    2000 - pick 82 Leander Jordan OL
    2001 - pick 74 Steve Smith WR
    2002 - pick 73 Will Witherspoon LB
2003 - pick 76 Mike Seidman TE, pick 82 Ricky Manning Jr. CB
    2004 - pick 94 Travelle Wharton
    2005 - pick 89 Atiyyah Ellison DT

Now way in hell I trade Jenks for anyone on this list except Steve and maybe Spoon. And the Smith pick seemed like a bad reach at the time I wouldn't make that trade without knowing what we know now about Smith. Oliver was a decent 3rd down back and I liked Seidman but injuries have hurt him. Manning was good but nickel DBs are a dime a dozen compared to Pro Bowl DTs. Wharton still too early to say what he'll develop into; but the rest are trash.

Scenario 1 (Jenkins included in the deal)
    23-Michael Griffin SS
    45-David Harris MLB
    54-Ben Patrick TE
    83-Dan Bazuin DE
    118-Roderick Rogers FS
    155-Quinn Pitcock DT
    191-Antwan Barnes OLB
    226-Steve Breaston WR/KR

dropping down costs us Nelson, but at least one S spot is fixed

    Scenario 1A (keep Jenkins)
    23-Griffin SS
    45-Harris MLB
    54-Patrick TE
    83-Bazuin DE
    118-Rogers FS
    155-Tim Duckworth G
    191-Barnes OLB
    226-Breaston WR/KR

had to reach a good bit for Harris, took Duckworth still don't think we have enough at G

    Scenario 2 (45, Jenkins & keeping 155)
    14-Reggie Nelson FS
    23-Anthony Spencer DE
    83-Eric Weddle SS
    118-Marshal Yanda OT
    155-Brandon Siler MLB
    191-Barnes OLB
    226-Breaston WR/KR

losing 45 is a killer, have to hope we eventually sign Jolley at TE. Yanda is better than Butler and gives us flexibility Bridges can go inside and compete at RG

    Scenario 2A (45, Jenkins & 155)

    14-Nelson FS
    23-Spencer DE
    83-Weddle SS
    118-Tim Shaw OLB
    191-HB Blades MLB
    226-Breaston WR/KR

this one was tough, again no TE I liked, nothing else at 118. Shaw I think could be something more than either Anderson or Jamison can give us. Have to stand pat at DT & OL which I don't like

    Scenario 3 (Jenkins for 13)
    13-Jamaal Anderson DE
    14-Nelson FS
    45-Harris MLB
    83-Weddle SS
    118-Shaw OLB
    155-Pitcock DT
    191-Kevin Boss TE
    226-Breaston WR/KR

Anderson and Nelson would be like Christmas in April

    Scenario 4 & 5 (Jenkins for Rams 52 or Broncos 56)
    14-Nelson FS
    45-Harris MLB
    52/56-Patrick TE
    83-Bazuin DE
    118-Shaw OLB
    155-Pitcock DT
    191-Patrick Ghee SS
    226-Breaston WR/KR

didn't see anything at OL I liked

Scenario 6 (Jenkins & Foster to Buffalo)
    14-Nelson FS
    43-Harris MLB
    45-Patrick TE
    74-Chris Henry RB
    83-Bazuin DE
    92-Weddle SS
    118-Shaw OLB
    155-Pitcock DT
    191-Jared Zabransky QB
    226-Breaston WR/KR

Got everything covered except OL, Zabransky's mobility and arm are better than the Bas', took a flyer on him

Scenario 6A (Jenkins, Foster & 83 to Buffalo)
    14-Nelson FS
    43-Harris MLB
    45-Brandon Jackson RB
    74-Bauzin DE
    92-Weddle SS
    118-Shaw OLB
    155-Pitcock DT
    191-Boss TE
    226-Breaston WR/KR

again will need to sign Jolley to get something out of TE, Boss and King can fight it our at #3.
