Tito seems a bit more prepared for Chuck this time. I think it won't be so easy. Either that or Shamrock just sucks that bad and it makes Tito look good.

shamrock was just there for a paycheck. He did nothing but get owned. I think this PPV sucks ass, and shows that the UFC isn't prepared to handle the extra load they want to take on with all the PPV's and spike tv shows. They need to open their damn checkbook and sign some guys to add competition. I'm tired of seeing all these reality show noobs climb to the top due to their fights against cans..

And MMA is a sport. It's actually safer than boxing also, even though the UFC is tamer than the japanese promotions. What's funny is that tons of those gifs above are from Pride and K1, not the UFC.

Look up guys like Mirko Crocrop, Wanderlei Silva, Fedor Emelianenko, or Quinton Jackson. All of these dudes would tear through the UFC if they came here.

I picked Sherk and Silva in this one. A lot of people don't know much about Sherk, but he's been a beast for a long time. Florian is awesome at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but Sherk has beat a lot of BJJ guys, and once everyone works up a big sweat, it's much harder to submit people. Florian's ace in the hole has always been that he has vicious elbows that tend to cut people over their eye and stop fights, not by KO, but by doctor stoppage because too much blood flowing into the fighter's eye is a no-no. He cut Sherk, but too high and on the side of his head so it wasn't dangerous, just messy. Anderson Silva is a great pure Muay Thai fighter, which we don't get a lot of here in the states yet.

The top UFC and top Pride fighters are roughly as good as each other (UFC has the edge at 155 and 170, Pride in most others except 205, which is a toss up), but the average Pride fighters are better than the average UFC fighters, mostly because they draw a truly international range of fighters, while UFC has a lot more Americans so it can build an American market. With Anderson Silva winning the belt, we'll probably see more international talent in the UFC and they'll even out even more.

Fight politics may prevent Chuck Liddel vs Wanderlei Silva from ever happening, but I'd pick Liddell in the fight, though it could definitely go either way. I just think Liddell would be able to avoid getting caught in the clinch that Silva likes so much and would be able to out box him until he found an angle from which to brutally KO him.

It is a sport just as much as Boxing is. The idea is not to harm or injure your opponent but to make him submit or get him in a situation where you clearly could hurt him resulting in the fight stopping.

There used to be a lot of talk about how UFC proved the superiority of grapplers over strikers but that has pretty much went away as strikers have had more success in the octagon and learned how to counter grapplers. What they have found is what the smart martial artists already knew, the best fighters are the most well rounded fighters. If you can not strike then you are vulnerable. If you can not grapple you are too.

As a side note, I read that Kurt Angle (the pro wrestler) may do some MMA fights. He actually beat some of the big names in wrestling as an amateur like Marco Coleman.
