My ipod has all my songs.
    My computer crashed.
I have a new computer (with no songs on it)

It is my understanding that if I plug my ipod to this computer now, everything will be lost.

I need to hack it somehow so that does not happen and I can drag my files now onto the new computer.

    Can it be done?

    Please advise.

yeah, it's pretty easy. don't install itunes on your new os or if it's already installed, uninstall it. itunes should ask before syncing, but just in case, remove it.

there are a TON of apps for pulling music off of ipods. ephpod is one i've used on the pc, but there are bunches. you might need to pay for the software, tho, but look to see if theres a free one first. it's not rocket science to put one of these things together, so it wouldn't surprise me if somebody did it for fun.

Flush it down the crapper, that should take care of the problem.

OK now i am trying to do the same on my desktop pc (worked on laptop).

Stupid piece of shit says this ipod is locked, exit itunes first. Thing is, I had already uninstalled itunes prior to syncing.

Making that Microsoft Zune look a little better, don't know for sure, b/c they haven't come out with it yet, but I'm pretty sure they have more leniant sharing guidelines, even from devise to devise. I guess we'll see Nov. 14th.
