We could always resign Stephen Davis for short yardage.

Goings looked allright, but the problem has always been our blocking, not the runners.

I never thought of Goings as a short yardage back, because he's neither big nor powerful, but he's on the team because he reads blocks. Maybe that woud make him a good short yardage back.

Goings rarely loses yardage, unlike Foster. He's a good 3rd down back because of his blocking and his receiving skills, but those things don't qualify him as a great short-yardage runner. He's okay, and I'd probably prefer him over anyone else, but Foster will likely end up getting those carries.

Davis was taken down in the backfield at a higher rate than Foster last year. For a 2-yard gain, we don't need Davis. We need an interior push that will allow for a 2-yard gain.
