Just wanted to add that I use most of those on a daily basis. She slaps me for it sometimes, but it's worth it.

 

I personally like "fucktard". I use it a lot and my oldest loves it when I say it!

 

Sorry if I was a little harsh with the post yesterday. I was coming off a really hard day at work. Regardless...Seriously guys. Words like this just SCREAM nerd. Use them all you want, but they DO make you look like someone who lacks social intelligence. I understand that most messageboard people are somewhere in-between a little dorky to completely socially oblivious, but I figure sports boards should have a significantly higher percentage of people who get more often.

IMHO, words like those previously used need to be limited to those who visit the "HAX0R", Gaming, and Tech boards. Any person who doesn't spend any amount of signifcant time on messageboards (95% of america) will just think you are a dork when you say something like that. Try mentioning what an "asshat" your brother is when trying to hook up with the 8.5 sitting in the bar and see how far it gets you. See how long afterwards it takes for her to say "it was great talking to you". In addition, anyone who says fucktard in front of their kid has issues. Period. I'm in my mid 20's and my parents still don't curse regularly in front of me. Cursing regularly makes you look like trash.

Anyway, thats my rant. I doubt anyone will heed my advice, but hey, its their loss.



*PS* The messageboard pictures are lame as well. A good smiley every now and then isn't bad, but trying too hard in general doesn't reflect well on anyone.

 

Um, SixMile, you just don't get this board. A lot of stuff is said in a joking manner. Fucktard, asshat, etc. is all just in fun. This is a great board with a LOT of knowledgable folks.

In regards to me having "issues" with saying fucktard in front of my kid, he is old enough to know that it is all in fun. I have never called him or any other member of my family a fucktard. It is reserved for idiots like the pro athletes that get arrested with great regularity.

I would suggest that you just lurk for a while to learn the "language" and "mannerisms" on the board to understand what I'm talking about.

No me trying "too hard" to ream you a new one tonight doesn't reflect well on anyone either but it's a fun way to kill the time it takes for my girl to get home from work.

Speaking as an older female board member (or THE old female member) I think asshat is sort of cute. Don't use it, but it sort of makes me giggle when I read it.
