That is like giving the major league batting title to a guy with 50 at bats.

It's hard to have a low passer rating when you only throw 12 times/game...yet somehow he made a mess of the superbowl.

Steelers | Roethlisberger's contract has provisions against non-football injuries
    Mon, 12 Jun 2006 18:26:01 -0700

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger's contract contains a default provision that says the Steelers have the right to go after some of his bonus money if Roethlisberger cannot play due to a non-football injury. If Roethlisberger were unable to report to training camp (unlikely), and if the team wanted to enforce the contract's language (also unlikely), and if Pittsburgh prevailed in the case, the Steelers could pursue $400,000 of Roethlisberger's signing bonus and another $5.79 million in bonus payments, according to a person who has reviewed the contract. Of course, the primary issue for Roethlisberger right now is his recovery.

I never said Ben should have won the MVP last year. Ben makes the most of his opportunities when he throws the ball.

It's hard to have a high passer rating when you only throw 15-18 times a game because there is far less margin for error where each incomplete pass cuts deep into his passer rating.

Roethlisberger played just well enough to win and made the big plays when the Steelers absolutely needed them.

Just hope he can recover from his injuries, his stupidity, and his arrogance for not wearing a helmet!!!

That is some kind of spin there. And it is inaccurate also.

The more you throw the ball, the better the chance there is to be intercepted.

He is the beneficiary of a strong running game that gets him a ton of single coverage and lots of room over the middle. If he had to run an offense like Brady or Manning, he would be out of the league.

I didn't accuse you of that. All I am saying is that if he had to throw the ball 30 times/game, every week, his passer rating would be in the toilet.

And if Harper's wife hadn't stabbed him in the knee, or Vandy not missed the FG, the Squeelers would never made it to the Super Bowl!

They Sqeelers should feel fortunate there were there.

    2003:

    vs. Jacksonville
    vs. Tampa
    vs. Washington
    vs. Arizona
vs. St. Louis (Playoffs, 2 OT)
    vs. New England (SB XXXVIII)

    2004:

    vs. San Francisco
    vs. Tampa

    2005:

    vs. Arizona
    vs. Buffalo
    vs. Chicago (Playoffs)

But Ben has the ring, and a better rating overall.

Defense may be their bread and butter, but the only losing streak they had last year was when he wasn't in the lineup. Far from coincedental. The game against Jacksonville was lost because Tommy Maddux threw an interception in overtime, something I'm willing to bet would not have happened had Roethlisberger been in the lineup. He controls the offense and gives them another weapon in a mobile quarterback. He makes few mistakes. He may not throw the ball 40 times a game, but the 20 or so times he does he completes his passes and doesn't throw interceptions.

Yeah, that's a big part of it. They have been a much better offensive team with him.

His career QB rating is 98. For a guy entering his second year, that is far above average.
