He has to be a stud on ST to make the roster.

I hope to hell he does - and hope he's a good runner. 3 deep would whip ass.

We said that last year after the draft - how deep we were. Didn't work out.

3 RB's on IR and Goings got hurt in the last game...

I don't know if Robertson makes the team, we could still pick up another RB in June

Buckner on the radio a few weeks ago said he thinks Shelton was shell shocked in camp at the speed of the game and was never able to shake it off. You figure he came in and practiced against one of the best defenses in the league. Knowing the playbook better should help slow things down.

The pessimism regarding Shelton has gotten completely out of hand. He would have to look terrible to not make the roster, and I personally expect him to do fairly well. Whether he ends up looking like someone his size should, especially one taken in the second round, there is almost no way that we would just cut him loose. He is talented and it would be a shock if he's anything lower than 3rd on our depth chart at RB.

Thank you for injecting some optimism. I hope you're correct.

I was at minicamp yesterday and thought Shelton looked pretty good. With Foster on the sidelines he and D'Angelo Williams got lots of reps. Now I now that they weren't in pads and the real bullets weren't flying but I came away yesterday feeling optimistic about the kid. He also caught a bunch of passes too.

I saw him running on Friday AM and he looked like a runaway train. I hope he sticks.

There's no doubt the guy has talent, but was he running high stll or was he keeping his pad level down. It would'nt hurt him to run with a little more of a forward lean, He wouldn't break off as many big gains, but his weight/momentum would gain him extra yards.

There are plenty of guys who can run low and stout and then break high and turn on the jets. I think honestly Shelton didn't have to run low before, because he was both bigger and faster than everyone, and still has that "break one" mentality. He could learn to pull it back and deliver a hit.

But not many do make that change.

I'd say it's 100% certain that he's on the squad, but I thought that last year. I'm not concerned that much with it, but I do wish he'd lost weight rather than gained it. I'd rather have him have a little more agility and body lean/bend to adjust than think being heavier will do it.

He can't go into the LOS as high as he was in college, not in the NFL. But, yes, if he starts to hit the holes lower with a good base and vision, he'll still get the outside...just not as often as he's used to.

except we did the equivalent last season of locking the deformed child away in the attic so the neighbors wouldn't see him.
