It's not out of the question to get Bush and still adequately address thier O-line needs...but then they have holes on D that haven't been addressed.
They could take Bush in the 1st, then Jon Scott or Davin Joseph in the second and in the 3rd follow up with something like Will Allen or Andrew Whitworth...that would make thier offense a little more complete if everyone worked out.
NFL Network was speculating this morning that because Bush has priced himself out to high, the Texans might go for Mario Williams, which wouldn't be a bad pick for them either. They wouldn't be able to go down too far and still have a chance at him, so they may stay put and the bidding for Bush begins at #2?

The whole 'priced himself out' thing sounds like a very very deliberate PR - type story 'leaked' to the press.

I suspect that the Texans are just playing hardball.

Spread the rumour around NFL buddies, casually mention it over drinks.... get a lower deal

The word from both Texans brass and Bush's camp is that there have been NO contract talks, yet they have talked to Williams and others according to NFL network.

It's pretty standard procedure for a the team with the first pick to see what player is the easier "signee". I read that was the case when Frisco had the number one and was choosing between Rodgers and Smith

True, but you'd think they would have at least felt Reggie out a little. They said some of the Texans brass snubbed Bush altogether when he was in Houston...I don't know, but this next week should be interesting.

makes sense from the standpoint that they can go to Bush with the numbers they have worked out with the other players and tell him this is what the value of the number one pick is worth to begin negociations

Side note: Someone...can't remember who, said Bush is seeking QB money.
Don't get me wrong, Bush is a huge talent, however he did not handle a majority of the touches at USC and that is alot of cash to throw at a guy who is a proven playmaker on a part time basis. ALthough, his talent and skill set allow you to use him in so many different ways. Not saying the guy sucks or isn't worth the money, but still I'd have to take that into consideration if I am a GM.

it shouldn't matter what position he plays if he's the #1 pick. He should be paid as a #1 pick.

True, I guess what I am trying to say is I am not sold that Bush is the #1...as unpopular as that opinion may be. I have never been totally sold on him going that high, but the hype machine has had him there all along. Top 10, yes but there are other players that I feel are far more secure picks than Bush. Ferguson, Williams, Leinart all would be more safe IMO.
So many people call White a product of the talent around him and while Bush has created more, that stipulation would have to apply to him as well.
