I doubt they're that low on Rodgers. They let Nall go and Buffalo *appear* to consider him a potential starter (although that could be draft misdirection). I suspect that even if they don't 100% believe in the guy, they'll give him a year at least if Favre retires.

Yeah, I wouldn't say Rodgers is done by any means. The Dickey comparison was more of a prediction. Dickey started for 4-5 years in the post-Bart Starr era...Rodgers will likely do the same in the post Favre era. I predict Rodgers will have a similar lackluster run.

Yeah, Dicky was good for about 2,500 yards and maybe 15 TD's a season in his heyday at Green Bay. Eddie Lee Ivory at RB. I remember those days well.
The problem with Rodgers is that none of the players believe in him. If Green Bay goes with Rodgers they are going to have to do some serious perssonel changes to make it happen so that he will have players who will play for him. A lot of the current players have been quite vocal about there opinion on his lack of NFL ability.
Personally and for the Packers sake, I hope they are wrong.

Rogers has barely played, how can they and you be so down on him already. I do not know much about him but he was rated pretty high in the draft last year. It was considered a steal by many to get him as late in the first round as Green Bay did. If you are basing all this off practice I wouldn't. Jake does not play that great in practice either but is a gamer. He could not even beat out Peete based on practice.

I'm just saying that it is hard for a QB to make it, especially when the team around him doesn't believe in him and says so to the media. I'm not down on him.
That makes his success efforts extra tough.
I hope the kid makes it.
However, all signs point that he is being shipped to NFL Europe unless something changes.
He was a steal at that pick, at that time.
But if you are the Green Bay GM, and Favre says he isn't coming back and you are sitting there with that pick they have, and all they have is Rodgers, do you take Cutler, Hawk or Ferguson, assuming they are all still available?

You don't take a first round QB, pay him all that money and then draft someone else the next year. They'll go with Hawk most likely, Fergy should be gone no later than #4.

I hope that you are right.
Me? I think they should sign Griese as a Free Agent (if nooone else has gotten him yet) and then draft Hawk #1. Go from there.
Just my opinion. But then again, opinions are like buttholes............. everyone has one and everyone elses stinks.

If Favre retires, they'll need a insurance policy. Collins would be an option, probably the best option available at this point anyway. Can't think of any other servicable starters that are floating around.
Either way, Rodgers probably starts in '06 if Favre retires. If for no other reason than by default.
