I'd be willing to state that I believe Thomas Jones and Julius Jones (yeah, that's right, we got gashed by a family) are cutback runners.

Then again, we did well shutting Tiki and Warrick Dunn down, to a point. I think as much as Thomas Jones cutting against the grain, it was that we got susceptible to overpursuing the stretch play as if it were a sweep. Chicago was doing a good job selling the fake, and that's usually a good way to handle Witherspoon.

Julius Jones was as much tackling and Carstens getting his ass handed to him.

I'm expecting we'll see a little more 5 DL set this week.

Over confidence in ourselves or lack of respect for them eitherway I was thinking along those lines. One thing is certain.....we wont take them lightly Sunday.

I like our chances of getting out with a win but there are odvious concerns. I am very concerned about DeSaun and hope we continue to see more Goings. I just think a more physical back will be needed for this game and with Fosters turf toe (granted he was huge yesterday) I think it is realistic to see more Hoover & Goings.

The other primary concern I have is our O-line containing the pressure up the gut.

I don't have so much a concern about our defense stopping them as I do about our O getting stopped. MOON

I've researched it and you are of course correct. Thomas Jones does appear to be a cutback runner. My memory of the game was that he pounded us. I stand corrected.

We gave up on the run after we got behind (thanks Jake). It doesn't matter if we're only getting three yards per carry, we need to keep running. The Bears are a fast, aggressive defense but they can be worn down. Committing to the run should open up play action possibilities, as Chicago is also known for being aggressive in the secondary which can allow people to get behind them (hello Drew Carter).

I think this is how they played Smitty. They "let" him get his catches (no double teaming most of the time I don't think) and tackled him right at the point of the reception most of the time, eliminating his YAC.

We had a big play or two in the Chicago game. We also played Smith short other than the EZ throw, so it'd be great to develop that some. Great week to pull out a pump fake.
