That was my point. He also ran well in his last game at Wash - and then broke his foot so bad that he was in danger of amputation. And then that was that.

Foster has been a much more productive player. He's got a chance to really prove himself a player. If he can run 'as advertised' - we got a shot.

And if he can do that, it'll be hard not to keep him.

I'm not doubting his production, Chuck. If he could stay healthy for 15 or 16 games a season, he'd be a phenomenal back. I just don't think he can.

    Foster>>>> Timmah.

Timmah danced, didn't set up blocks, didn't like contact. Foster just presents a big target, particuarly in our scheme. And he's won us big games.

I think we can run on the Giants. I don't want to pay him a bunch, but lets ride him.

I strenuously disagree with that. I think that's as wrong as when people said that Dan Morgan could be a phenomenal linebacker when healthy. Morgan and Foster can be adequate when healthy, but neither are above average players in any situation. Foster's ypc is not promising without the Atlanta totals, and we've all seen him struggle this year against every team he started against except the Falcons. I don't think he's terrible, but there's simply no point in bringing him back at $2 million plus to just be the change of pace guy. He wants a chance at more than that, and we need someone who we can depend on who will be more productive when we need him.

Foster can be more than adequate when we use him to his strengths. Foster is hard to take down once he gets moving, he just doesn't get much of a chance to get moving when he runs up the gut behind our Oline. Look at the difference in his yardage to the outside and the yardage up the gut. At the beginning of the 2nd bucs game we were running him more to his strengths and thats why he had 40 yards on the first drive. Then we decided to run 3 straight times up the middle. The result was no yards and a missed field goal. Nothing changed from there on out.

Actually most of Foster's big runs in that game where inside the tackles. Despite the media constantly reporting it as truth, Foster actually hasn't been particularly successfull this season on tosses or sweeps. But yes, in general Foster gets more yards to the outside than he does inside, but that's true for almost any running back in the NFL (including Stephen Davis), in part because those runs include ones that started inside and then bounced outside. Those in the media who suggest that Foster is being misused are just attempting a new way of attacking Dan Henning. It isn't a legitimate position in my opinion based on what I have seen of Foster's performances.
