one difference, charlotte ain't dook or carolina. everybody try to come back to reality here.

also, why would the southern conference want a startup football program like charlotte?

They could join the Pioneer league or whatever that conference Davidson is in until they get on their feet.

Agree, but football could help us eventually get there. Hell, we'd be on par with Duke from the beginning.

Because we would (in most years) greatly inhance the basketball landscape and that of several other sports. It would actually give the conference a fighting chance at an at-large bid and two teams in the NCAA tourney.

Also, road trips from would be great for us and the other teams. I'd rather go to Charleston, Greenville or Boone than have to catch a flight somewhere like Duquesne.

It wouldn't take long for Charlotte to compete at that level in Football. Recruit the Charlotte area reasonably well and the talent level would even up pretty quickly. We'd not get the Chris Leak's of the area, but look at how many of the Charlotte area kids play for the likes of App, Furman, Western, etc. It's not a hard equation in terms of talent, money's a different story...

are you saying a school can't have D2 and D1 teams? there are lots of schools that have both: most are D1 in wrestling and D2 in everything else. Mercyhurst has D1 hockey and is D2 in everything else, including football.
