Mark, cuz Billy is old and I respect elders. I don't like Billy all that much, but at least he didn't need a hand making his career. He did it on his own.

 

Gold also likes to ramble on with his topics, doesn't let callers change the topic if it's not interesting, and is generally an ass to everyone who doesn't agree. Gold is a fucking prick and I couldn't be happier to be away from his show. Packer gets twice the guests, and although his show isn't perfect, it's better than listening to an egomaniac (not that Pack isn't one too) droll on about what he deems important. Gold could have a better show if he had some cohosts to bounce stuff off of, it was one of the Buzz's flaws in their shows. Listening to one guy for three hours just doesn't make for interesting radio for the most part. Only a few national guys can even carry a show like that, Rome, Patrick, and a handful of others can do it. Gold can't.

 

having worked with Gold, and knowing the format, it is what it is. I think AG is more knowledgable than Packer, but we really don't know because Packer has those co-hosts who answer all the questions for him.

Does Packer get great guests? Yes, but is it because of him or his Dad? I dunno....I have never met Packer.

Personally, I agree with swampgas. Gimme a guy who has a point, talks a topic, and makes me think a little, rather than have callers with nothing to add other than "UNC sucks" or "Duke sucks".

 

I remember when I first heard the show, I was like hmm, funny at times to listen to on the way home from work, but after a week of the same shit everyday, it got old quick. Give me Jim Rome anyday.

For the record I thought you were MUCH better than Gold at the single host format, and yes, it is what it is. It's different and it can't really be compared. I would probably agree that Gold knows more about more sports than Pack. I like Gold when it comes to college hoops, which is my favorite sport. I like Pack in every other sport though, but the markets are different and Gold HAS to know his NCAA hoops. Still regardless of the format differences or guest abilities, Pack's show shits all over Gold's. I lived in the market for 6 years man. The Sports Bar shit all over Gold's show, and I'm still pissed you had to give up an hour for Romey while Gold got to keep his timeslot.

My show got moved up, from 1-3 to 10-12noon to make space for Rome. I never lost an hour. That move was actually good for me because of my TV commitments--I got to work on time! lol
