FWIW....the freeze frame on TIVO showed a sliver of ball breaking the white line on the Goal. From THAT camera angle, a few dimples crossed the plane.

Prior to this thread I was still the only person who actually noticed that we recovered the ball in the endzone. No one mentioned it on television, no one mentioned it in the paper, and no one mentioned it here. The official stats gave the TD to Davis, but they didn't blow the whistle until after the scrum, where we came out with the ball.

And no, if you look at the tape you can clearly see that Davis came up a good inch short even at its furthest point, and by then it was actually already slipping out of Davis' hands.

That's good stuff. I was at the other end of the stadium, where we have goal line seats. Was that the one right at the beginning of the 2nd?

if the ruling was we recovered the ball in the endzone, how did Davis get credit for the touchdown?

We know the ref doesn't keep in contact with the official scorer, and my guess is that they don't care who gets credit, only whether or not the team scored. That said, I'm still not clear that the ref absolutely was saying that we scored on the fumble recovery and not the initial lunge, I was just the only one to make the point that we did recover the fumble in the endzone, making it a moot point either way.

the play was over when the ball crossed the plane...there was no fumble

Yahoo would have to subtract 2 points from Davis in FF

the line judge is signaling touchdown before the scrum for the ball is over, so clearly he thought Davis got it across the goaline. I haven't seen an angle yet that makes me think he actually got it over though. It also looks to me like he still has control of the ball when his knee touches down, before he tried to stretch it out.

Davis STILL hasn't scored that touchdown.

    Glad the zebras muffed it.
