Thanks for the info. I thought maybe the "open" MRIs were quicker or something.

Actually an MRI for the knee can be done in 15-20 minutes. Or I should say that is how long mine was. Now the entire process of getting him off the field, do the MRI, get the info to whoever needs it, then to the trainers and coaches, could be 45 mins or so.

This diagnostic method I can vouch for. Seen it done a few times on the sidelines of the soccer field. Ends up being about 95% correct.

There was no further damage. Torn is torn. The MRI machine cost millions of dollars, and probably is not as easy to do as an X-Ray. They don't have one at the stadium. They have to get him to the hospital, call in a tech, who likely is not there on Sundays, and then do it. It may take 45 minutes, but arranging for it probably takes a couple of hours.

He did have on a prescription knee brace.

If he had that brace, then there was likely no chance at further damage. I played almost a whole soccer game after tearing mine the second time. He could have further damaged the meniscus and it would have left his knee more vunerable to tearing another ligament. But the brace would prevent any of that from happening.

I tore my ACL and when it happened it made a pop but I did not realize it was damaged that bad until I tried to push off on it. That is when it felt like my knee was bending the wrong way. It is not an extremely painful thing when it happens, it hurts when you try to use it and if fails.

the local paper noted today that Jenkins "knew he'd torn something when he went back in", which is vague. I take it to mean "I know I tore something earlier". If that's true, he popped it before, and no, you wouldn't damage anything. Now if he'd torn a second ligament, then I'd be awfully pissed. But yeah, I'm not happy he went back out anyway.

Yes, you actually can continue to damage the rest of the knee by playing on a torn ACL. The brace certainly helps, but it doesn't rule out the possibility of further damage by any means.
