BOILING SPRINGS - In a high school football game in which scoring was expected to be a struggle, Shelby got 21 unanswered points to knock off county rival Boiling Springs Crest on Friday.

In the 21-17 win, Crest scored first. With five minutes, 10 seconds left in the first quarter, before Shelby responded with touchdown drives of 80, 26 and 30 yards.

Tavorris Jolly's 3-yard touchdown run with 9:52 left in the second quarter put Shelby up 21-7 and the Lions appeared headed for a rout. Yardage was coming easily for Shelby, and Crest was reeling.

Josh Patton's 55-yard punt to Shelby's 1 turned momentum slightly, and set up Doug Lowery's 37-yard field goal that made the score 21-10 at halftime.

Crest's Tosh Toms scored on a 6-yard touchdown run with 6:25 left in the game to cut the lead to 21-17. Shelby ran out the clock on the next drive thanks in part to fullback Doug Scott's determined 1-yard run for a first down on fourth down at Crest's 20 with two minutes left.

Crest's opening score covered 62 yards in 14 plays. Toms carried eight times for 34 yards to set up a 4-yard scoring sweep by Chavis Poole.

Shelby answered quickly, going 80 yards in seven plays. The Lions scored on a 44-yard play-action pass by quarterback Darryl Montgomery that froze the Crest secondary and left Jolly wide open along the sideline.

On Crest's next offensive play, Mark Williams intercepted a Chargers pass at Crest's 30. Shelby scored three plays later when fullback Arsenio Parks went 20 yards around the right side, breaking two tackles on his way to the end zone.

Shelby's final score came on 3-yard run after Montgomery faked a handoff to fullback Parks, then handed to Jolly who went into the end zone barely touched.

Crest named their stadium in honor of Sid Bryson on Friday. Bryson coached football at the school from 1971 through 2003.

Peppers wanted to get beat cause he didn't want risking getting his arm tore off grabbing hold of that big running back NO had.
Ricky Manning has been getting beat since he walked on a football field and will continue to be beat.

New Orleans rookie Jammal Brown did an outstanding job on Carolina end Julius Peppers, limiting him to six tackles and no sacks.

you say this like carolina doesnt have a great front 4. would you like to have peppers on your d-line? if you say no, then give up on football. ken lucas has been good since he got into the league, and where was joe horn all day? what game were you at, because lucas did fine today at the panthers game. we stuffed the running game, brooks didnt even get to 200 yards throwing, smitty raped mckenzie (im guessing that's why they took him off smitty in the second half), and we ran for over 120 yards.

we played sloppy, that's that. if you're a redskin fan, your team didn't even score a touchdown today, and your team got beat by our reserves.
