I forget what the fuck I said last time. I'm not putting that much work into it, but I'm guessing a streaky 10-6 that shows us with a losing streak in December.

I predict a 10-6 record. An upset somewhere along the way may hurt us temporarily, but even the Top Cats are rooting for a playoff run this year.

One more thing you need to take into account.

The Panthers are 2-5 in games I personally attend. I will be in the stadium for NE and GB.

Let me also reiterate. These predictions are based on a couple of things....

    1) Mostly based on the way the 1st string offense played during the first series during the Pre-Season game vs the Steelers last week. If something happens to Delhomme or any of the reliable talent, then these are quite subject to change. As was said earlier, this is the best team, all-around, that the Panthers have fielded to date.

    2) I disagree that being on the SI cover is a curse. Look back over the last 10-15 years at who was on the cover. Patriots, Cowboys, 49er's....All Championship teams in their era.

I believe we'll beat the simplexicans out for the division @ minimum 10-6 by virtue of a tiebreaker or because we finally kick their asses as God originally intended (all we need is some O for once). If we really TCB like I think *could* happen then I predict it comes down to us vs Minny for home field and I think Minny gets it. Maybe not, I have stronger homeristic thoughts this year than ever before. I don't see a team, including the simplexicans, that we can't beat. Not that we'll beat 'em all but we have a realistic chance against anyone, even on the road.

If Wharton can handle his bidness (still a ?) and most of our key guys stay healthy, we will be really fun to watch. I swear, if we can stay healthy.... I think this is the year we turn the D loose and Henning goes for it more on 3rd and long/longish. Can't wait.

This can be a golden year, b/c:

    1) O-line and D-line are solid, w/ the exception of how Wharton develops, but that looks promising so far

    2) No major injuries so far

    3) The schedule doesn't seem to have too many long stretches of tough games back-to-back

    4) Preparation has been good. Jenkins and co. looked in shape and serious about business in camp this year, unlike last year when they acted like they thought they were royalty.

    5) Steve Smith and Julius Peppers seem set to have the biggest years of their respective careers.

    6) Though the Safeties may be suspect against the pass, the CBs with the addition of Lucas should more than make up for it.

    7) I sense were gonna actually see passes to the TE, by the Panthers, this year.

I say 11-5 or better. The pieces are there. The preparation has been good. Damn, I'm ready for some football!
