Who are you even talking about? From what I can see, the people who are cold on Morgan are even colder on Foster. The fact of the matter is that Morgan is GROSSLY overpaid in comparison to other middle linebackers. It is another fact that Morgan has not been among the best linebackers in the game either statistically or through observing game action. It is also a fact that 2004 was his only season where he was even above average.

Do you go to the games or watch them? You comment that Morgan is only above average shows your ignorance. We are a BETTER team when he is on the field and he is one of the BEST defensive players we have.

Be honest, you are really a cowboys fan aren't you? From what I have seen you are absolutely clueless about the Panthers.

BTW, Steve Smith has only played in 73% of the games since becoming a Panther. Looks like he is overpaid as well since he does not lead the NFL is statistics. Your brilliant deduction.

This webpage may or may not add to the conversation. I do believe we can agree that he has been underpaid the last two years?

    Looky here,

In 2003, Ray Lewis and Takeo Spikes got a $9m bonus, Keith Brookings got a $10.6m bonus, and Brian Urlacher got a $13m bonus.

In 2004, LaVar Arrington got a $11.3m bonus and his teammate Marcus Washington got a $7m bonus as well. Note too the jump in Ray Lewis's base salary to $4m the second year and Brian Urlacher get almost that much again in total.

Remind me again how many games Ray (15) and Brian (9) played in last year?

    Hmm, more crunching required...

Oh my God!!! Ray Lewis played in more games and only had one more PD than Dan. Conversely, Dan had 2 more Ints and 1 more sack and they were tied in forced fumbles. Don't even look at Marcus Washington's numbers and they don't compare well (well, he had more sacks)...and look...poor LaVar only played in 4 games last season...

And BTW, the average of the top 5 salaries of last season is $6.19m which mean the franchise tender is that or slightly higher. So whoever is saying we are paying him more that the franchise tag is mistaken.

I think a stronger secondary will give him more freedom to make plays. It's something that Ed Hartwell had in Bmore, and Trotter in Philadelphia. Staying healthy is a seperate issue from his ability, and giving an oft injured guy this much is risky. But I can see this paying off, big time.
