    The "X" cross I think is St.Andrews cross(didn't want to be crucified the same as his LORD).The X is Greek for Christ(I think Chi or Chi-Ro someone better at Greek might explain better).

    Also will see this in fish symbol.The Fish
    a secret sign used by the early persecuted Christians to designate themselves as believers in Jesus. The initial letters for the Greek words for "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior", spell the Greek word for fish.

    Christians shouldn't take the use of "X" as a put down.If the use of "X" is a put down by non-belivers,then it is on them(non-belivers).
