I have been, briefly. And it is indeed a hole. And this is coming from someone who currently lives in the Philly area.

Sure, to an extent. Theres some fights and such. Boston won 2 championships this year, and to my knowledge didn't burn anything down or flip cars and such. Detroit sticks out in my mind because those riots were particularly brutal. Rodney-King-esque, from what I recall. Of course, I would be pissed if I had to live in a shit hole town, too.

Not to take up for Artest, cause he can't do that shit. At least a 10 suspension.

But Wallace came after him after a hard but by no means maliscous foul. He then does the right thing and lays down on the bench trying to keep his cool. Then the beer hit him, and went after the guy he thought threw it.

i haven't seen a videotape that shows who threw the first cut at Artest. Find him, charge him with assault. The camera did find several fans that threw shit and started throwing punches. Assault for them. Looked like some of the Indy playes were trying to get Artest seperated and then they got hit, and retaliated.

It's an embarrasment. Thier should be some big time fines and suspensions, and some fans who did start this should go to jail.

It's not just because they won, they used to burn down half the fucking town around Halloween. Goddamn fuckers get a kick out of fire I guess. :laugh1:

In Detroit, Michigan (1990 population: 1,027,974), arson accounted for nearly half (46.3%) of all fire-related deaths since 1984. During the late 1970s, pre-Halloween pranks traditionally associated in some parts of the United States with the night of October 30 turned destructive in Detroit, with hundreds of fires set throughout the city. By 1984, October 30 became known as "Devil's Night" and had evolved to 3 consecutive nights of arson on October 29-31; in that year, a record 810 fires were reported.

That's from an official government org. in Michigan that was started to combat this shit. So no, every city isn't like Detroit. Try again.

my take on the fight and what started it

Artest did make a hard foul on Wallace - by NBA standards it wasn't much more than a normal hard foul - certainly not flagrant but pretty unnecessary considering it was 45 seconds left in the game.

Wallace should draw a HUGE fine - he went after Artest with the punch to the face and that is what really started the whole thing.

Artest will probably draw some kind of fine for going into the stands, not saying he wasn't provoked, not saying the fan that threw the beer didn't deserve an ass kicking but basically a beer dumped on Artest wasn't worth the melee that ensued once he was in the stands

once Artest is in the stands all bets are off. At that point all the players are fighting from instinct and for survival.

I hope EVERY fan caught on tape throwing sucker punches, going on the court, throwing chairs etc is prosecuted.

ANd I bet beer sales are either suspended in Detroit or stopped at halftime.

The NBA should start banning these thugs. If Pete Rose can get banned for gambling, these guys should get banned for acting like a bunch of criminals.
