    The Red Sox were the 2nd highest paid team in baseball behind the Yankees.The Red Sox and Yankees were the only teams in baseball to go over the so called salary cap.The Red Sox have turned into a major spender just like the Yankees.I know they were only another wild card winner this year,but with the championship in tow maybe they may well be the new "Evil Empire."


    The way to be world champion?Either be the NY Yankees or beat the NY Yankees.It's been a winning combination every year since 1996 except one....1997.

    That's brilliant. You give two choices: either BE the Yankees or BEAT the Yankees. Are there any other possibilities?

    World Champions Since 1996:

    1996 NY Yankees
    1997 Florida Marlins beat Cleveland :huh:
    1998 NY Yankees
    1999 NY Yankees
    2000 NY Yankees
    2001 Arizona beat the Yankees
    2002 Anaheim Angels beat San Fran after knocking off the Yankees
    2003 Florida Marlins beat the Yankees
    2004 Boston Red Sox sweep the Cardinals after beating the Yankees in 7.

    It's pretty simple....except for one year you either had to be the NY Yankees or beat the NY Yankees to be world champion....at least since 1996.
