Looks like the US will face either - Italy, Croatia or Mexico in the next round. Any of those teams will be tough as hell to take down. Mexico is playing awesome right now and their upcoming game with Italy should be a classic.

How great would Mexico vs US and Portugal vs Italy be?

Croatia might just bust that up as I expect them to beat Ecuador and Italy and Mexico to tie. That would leave Italy at home.

Here are all the World Cup possiblities:

Also, I would like to add my current predictions for the teams with the best chance to take the WC:
    1) Brazil - haven't been challanged so far, but can beat anyone.
    2) Spain - dominated so far, but they always faulter. Is it their turn to shine?
    3) Mexico - have looked outstanding so far
    4) Portugal - stumbled but are supremely talented. Goalie is suspect.
    4) Argentina - still need to get out of their group but they are still dangerous if they do.
    5) England - Tina win looked impressive
    6) Italy - will they get to second round?

Others: Germany - scoring goals right now - but their group is weak, Denmark - solid but not enough offense to win the cup.

If I had to pick a champion I would go with Brazil ATP as I still believe they might be the overall best team in this tourney. Of course.

thanks for the link shocker - :)
Wathcing Germany right now on the tape delay. First half as about as dirty a game by both sides as I have ever seen. I think there have been about 10 yellows in the first half! Germany is scoring, but I agree that they are yet to be tested.
England is not what I would expect so far.
France is a shocker, not even a single goal scored! Wow...that loss to Senegal must have really rattled them.
US v. Mexico would be awesome. Mexico is brilliant so far. US team is starting to show some confidence. Their defense has been great but we need to create more opportunities to score. Been a good Tourney so far and I expect it will get much better in the second round.

I would have to agree that Brazil is in the best position to win it all once again.

Yea, I hear ya dupree. US needs to show that they can possess the ball (a la Mexico) and control tempo in games if they want to stay in the Top 10 teams in the world rankings. They can create chances and are quite creative at times and skilled in short areas. What the US doesn't do well is control tempo and keep possession. A team like S. Korea will get dominated by a team that can possess and keep them from "fast breaking". Personally, Portugal should beat them by at least 2 goals, although the Portugal goalie might be the most suspect in the entire tournament they are just the type of team that will beat a Korea. However, Portugal should have beaten us too - and they didn't. You never know in soccer, but the US must learn to control possession at bit more.

And yea, your right - France didn't even show up for this tournament. They went from the clear favorite to total flops in two weeks. I think you have a hand it to the teams in their group too. Senegal and Denmark have played well above expectations so far.

2 of the top 4 teams in the tournament are out.
2 more of the top 6 (Italy and Portugal) are on the ropes bigtime.

Incredible. This is probably the most wide open WC ever. The downside is that Brazil might just waltz to the title if all their "real" competition keeps dropping out. Spain continues to impress me however. Their group is solid and they are scoring a lot of goals right now. The same can be said for Mexico, who so far has looked as good as I have ever seen them look.

    Its official...
If the US advance they will get Mexico or Italy. It will be awesome to see, but another miracle will be needed to win that game.
