    That was the old rule. Its been gone for about 5 or 6 years. Now you can only hire off someone elses staff if the person's contract is up, or if they give you permission.

    Some teams routinely give permission if it's not a lateral move, adhering to the spirit of the old rule. Some teams always deny permission. Some teams go case by case, depending on what their plans are for the coach.
