Not to mention the players taunting each other and shit talking the whole game. Overblown issue.

I can really see both sides of it. On one hand, the fact our starting center is afraid of pissing off our opponents' defensive line really bugs me. This game is played pissed off. At least, that's the way I used to play it.

But on the other hand, considering what was at stake in that game, and how close those two teams were, it doesn't take much to upset the balance and swing momentum.

I guess the bottom line is that it was a bad idea to begin with to put a stadium mike in the hand of "the fan of the week".

I sure as hell hope so. Unless the Ericsson police have outlawed that.

I imagine, in a player's mind, it's one thing if the guy suited up across from you is talking trash. After all, he is a pro athlete and has risen trhough the ranks to get here. However, it's probably rather iritating in a player's mind when some punk-ass fan who's probably never played football other than flag-football starts calling you out. I'd call that xtra incentive.

Sure, there's trash-talking from fans behind the benches. But that's fans still staying more-or-less within their expected roles within the game environment. When one single fan is calling a player out over the loudspeakers, its gotta have xtra incentive.

It reminds me of those commercials, for, what is it, Playstation (?) where the guy is talkin' trash to Sapp (or the NBA player or the NHL player) because he can ace them on a computer version of the game. Sapp just looks at the guy incrediously (of course, it still cracks me up hearing that guy talk all that junk to Sapp).

Reg the ESPN games guy... I want for him just one time to go up to a pro athlete and say "I'M BRIAN FELLOWS! I've mastered the the iso motion... that's CRAZY!"

Undoubtedly. And yeah, the outcome of the next couple plays did factor into people piling on him.

Steussie did give up two sacks, but for the length of time Delhomme had on those two plays, I'd say that was part of Delhomme's indecision throwing. Doesn't happen terribly often, but he had time to make a throw on each.

Of course, Simeon Rice is perpetually one of the most undermotivated players in the league. So that does factor in somewhat.

I do think we were all thinking it. I can also see fans being irrationally critical, but having two offensive leaders criticize him on record? That's kinda poor. I mean that's one of your die hard fans, I don't care what he did. You still come to play and worry about yourself, not what some yahoo is doing in some seat.
