Traded down about 3 times

 

I hardly ever trade down multiple times during those simulations because I realize the Panthers would never be that smart.

 

Saw one mock today where Graham and Carter were both gone and the mocker put LB Jalon Walker the #8 pick. That was first I've seen him being the Panther choice. Then again there could 20 players named at #8 before the draft gets here.

 

Jalon Walker is going to be like Isaiah Simmons. In the right system he will look like a stud. On the Panthers, he would look lost.

 

I am not the biggest fan of ProFootballNetwork, they seem to march to their own drummer as far as big boards are concerned. But here's what I came up with there. I accepted one trade that was basically a couple of pick swaps.



I wouldn't be thrilled if the board fell this way, but Sawyer and Turner are absolute steals where we got them (this is a PFN problem--other sites have them as borderline first rounders). I think Moore goes a lot higher as well, probably bottom of the second. If the draft fell this way it wouldn't improve our defense that much, but it would set up our defense to be really good in a few years as these guys developed.

 

Yeah, PFN is all over the place with their rankings.

But, they are free, haha, so I mess around there. Others give you a free round or two and want you to sign up for something.

Just a way to kill time till the combine is over.

I want to see just how many actual guys get a 1st round grade this year. I bet it is less than 16. Of course even that is subjective.

 

So I guess we pull for Vikings tonight?

Seems like Rams losing will help us a couple spots in the 2nd round on draft picks. Or at least I think so.

 

I like the simulator at https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-draft-simulator more than most. They use a consensus big board that makes more sense than the one at ProFootballNetwork, and their trade proposals aren't stupid.

It's fun doing these for me because I learn more about later round prospects.
