When was the last time trading up has worked for the Panthers?

Though if he does it we know Morgan is more of a Hurney than a Fitterer. Exhibit A is paying out the nose for guards

In normal times with a normal owner, I'd have positive vibes about this off-season, even with the shitty overpaying of two guards.

Unfortunately, I'm still expecting Tepper to fuck everything up, because that's what he always does to the Panthers. And since this is my default assumption until proven otherwise, I fully anticipate that fat fuck talking Morgan into trading up into the first round. You can't just take the easy win by leveraging the 33rd pick into more picks. It's vital that you "be aggressive" and go get "your guy".

Why would FAs of any quality want to sign with the Panthers? A winning tradition? Chance at a ring? The Carolinas is such a great place to live? Nope.
It's money. Give them a godfathers' offer and see what happens. People would be complaining if they didn't spend any money or cheap'd out. Then there are those that remember Hurney and over paying the RBs and pissing into the cornflakes.
They needed OL help. They found folks they thought were an upgrade. The people in charge of working out the deal made the decisions. What's the main complaints about paying a lot for OL help. It takes cap money for help in other areas? It makes it a precedent that the team will overspend? Whose pocket is the money coming from? Not mine. I don't go to games or buy merch. I enjoy watching them win on TV.
I couldn't care any less about Tepper and what he does. He has done nothing to me or for me.
The only reason to complain about the team overspend is to come back later with a chance to say I told you so.
I didn't like it from my ex-wives and I don't like it from fans.

Mostly this. Paying a premium on guards hurts you elsewhere. Its a great way to max out the cap savings from a rookie QB to get to .500.

Then they'd better hit on a few draft choices. One sure starter they can find at 33 or 39 is a real center and let Corbett be depth. Possible starter could be Cooper or Wilson at LB to start in the Panthers weak ass LB group. I'm thinking Edge, CB, or WR may have a tougher time learning the pro game and being successful at it.
I don't want to see any WRs drafted in the 2nd, 3rd rounds whose top asset is contested catches or whose only claim to a roster spot is speed. They can draft special teamers in the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds.
500 in a 17 game schedule? 9-8 could win this division.

One of the oddest complaints I've heard was about CB Jones. The majority of his tackles seem to be be lower leg and ankle tackles. Odd, no?

I think most of these stories that surface close to the draft are absolute nonsense.

I don't know the young man. It could all be smoke screens to make sure his draft stock drops.
Then again it does plant a seed in the minds of some. If it's even partially true then some GMs don't want that infecting the locker room.
