As of today anyway. If there was any year that the Panthers had to have multiple hits on their upcoming draft then this would be the year. No reputable FA would want to come here and put out any exertion. They'll go through the motions and say the right things while coasting on their play.

That's the right way to approach this season, but I'll believe it when I see it. I've heard this line before from a Tepper owned team. It usually lasts about five days into free agency.

It lasted about five minutes this time.

Dave will never change and the Panthers will be stuck in limbo forever. All of your favorite players will be swapped out for forgettable, mediocre, but somehow expensive talent. You'll form no emotional connection with these mercinary players, partially because the team will never win more than seven games in a season, and the cycle will repeat itself indefinitely, each iteration more pathetic and forgettable than the last.

It's like it's the early 90's and I am still a Bears fan...

It's the 5th straight year where the Panthers don't seem to have a clear objective. Is this a rebuild? Is this a win-now year? We don't know, and we never seem to know.

Bryce Young being awful as a rookie makes the picture even murkier. What if the rest of the team is solid but the QB drags it down to 5-12? How long do you "wait" on him to improve while you're signing expensive parts around him?

It's just an incoherent mess. The Panthers are nothing. They're non-binary. I can't get engaged about a rebuilding project, or excited about a playoff run, because the Panthers are none of the above.

I think rhules first year was a rebuild. The rest have been "win now" years with a roster that's not even close to winning. That's why they're having to sell signing players at non premium positions (2 guards!) as though they're the bills signing Von Miller.
