It's too bad that last season was his worse stat year since he was a rookie. His market value took a hit last year.

"WR Ladd McConkey, Georgia

Youngster plays fast and has a grip on route running. The prototype of today’s NFL slot receiver. The word often used about his play this past week was “uncoverable’”.

CB Cam Hart, Notre Dame

Has NFL size and length. Irish often put him on an island in coverage and pundits raved all week about his sticky coverage."

Xavier Legette-South Carolina

Legette was stellar at all depth’s, with his hands and after the catch."

LB (5) Payton Wilson-North Carolina

Wilson I have in Round 3, so I can understand, he’s got good speed, can tackle and hustle.

ILB Tyrice Knight- Texas, El Paso

Small-school tackle machine, just a bit short on measurable’s. Had a nose for the football all week and showed a well-rounded game."

 

Know a couple kids that played at UTEP and watched them a lot the last few years. Measurables aside, dude is a gamer. I was usually watching the DT (Keenan Stewart #54) and Knight would ALWAYS flash into view.

 

I'd rather go the other way personally. O-line to keep Bryce upright. The receivers we have will also improve under Canales you'd think. The O-Line is what it is with who we have. I don't see it improving much.

Lot of good linemen in this draft too.

Not saying don't take a receiver but I'd like to see us fix the line first. We may do O-Line or receiver in free agency or trades before the draft of course. That would then change the draft strategy.

 

Agreed WR needs to be priority #1, unless they can dump Young, move up and grab Maye

 

Maye is going to be a Patriot from what I read. Commanders going to move up to one so the USC qb can continue to get taught by cliff Kingsbury their OC

We're going to be immediately better on the O-Line once Christensen and Corbett return from injury. By far, the biggest problem on our line last year was the interior play, and that came from constantly shuffling in backups and rookies. Just staying healthy makes a huge difference. And if Canales' scheme fits their strengths better, I look for the line to perform as well as they did in the last half of 2022.

At WR, on the other hand, our best receiver is a 33 year old slot guy. We're currently looking at a WR room that has Thielen, Shenault, Mingo, Marshall Jr, and Smith-Marsette. We may be able to bring Chark back for something similar to what he got last year, but guys like Higgins and Ridley are going to cost more than we can afford. Assuming that the new staff can develop either Mingo or Marshall (yeah, I know...) that still gives us only one legitimate threat and I don't see anyone outside of maybe Chark who can go deep effectively. But at the top of the second, there should be a serious talent still available.

Either of Xavier Worthy or Xavier Legette can stretch the field, and both Troy Franklin and Keon Coleman are great possession guys who look like they could enjoy long and productive careers in the NFL. At least one of those guys should be there at 33, and it wouldn't be a big surprise if all four of them are. We can get line talent in the later rounds, particularly at Guard.

I don't think there's that big a difference in the linemen taken here and what was available at the top of the second. But there wasn't a WR available in the third who could do nearly as well as Legette will. So WR is the way to go for me.
