    Johnson passed last year...I would assume he'd be even more likely to tell Tepper to piss up a rope now.

    I can no longer get excited or engaged about this stuff. I hope Tepper lands a punch this time but my default assumption is more misery and dysfunction.

    I understand they are using the search consulting group that netted the soccer team their head coach.

    spoiler alert: I have no doubt it's going to be Ben Johnson. He's going to interview some other places, and it's going to be a bidding war... But that's a battle Tepper will win, even if he has to pay him $700 million for 10 years. I think Ben Johnson wants to be here anyway. He's a hometown guy.

    Well there certainly little pressure on a new coach He could triple the win output and still have a bad team.

    CHARLOTTE — The Panthers have begun the process of finding their next general manager by requesting permission to interview eight candidates so far.

    On Monday, the team requested permission to interview the following:

    — Giants assistant GM Brandon Brown
    — Buccaneers assistant GM Mike Greenberg
    — Chiefs vice president of football operations Brandt Tilis.
    — Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby
    — Saints assistant GM Khai Harley
    — Ravens vice president of football administration Nick Matteo
    — Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds
    — Raiders interim GM Champ Kelly
