I always wonder about these firings of GM's

Are they making all the decisions or just doing what they are told and signing who they are told to sign?

Never know.

If he made all these decisions, then he was overdue to be sent packing. But......

 

Most of the time, Tepper isn't personally picking players like we would in a fantasy draft or a madden franchise, but he does dictate the compulsive GO BIG approach that leads to self-inflicted wounds.



You're right that two things can be true at the same time. It was obvious to me that Fitterer wasn't going to be the next Ron Wolfe, so I have no issue with shitcanning him after three years of lousy player evaluations, but the complete dilapidation of the franchise starts at the top. This is all the byproduct of Tepper's volatility and lack of vision. Other meddling owners at least have a clear plan of action, but this one is a prisoner of the moment constantly chasing the shiny new object.

I wouldn't mind him. He may not be the guy to get a ring but he'll build up a clear identity and stability so you know what you have.
