Only thing I can figure is they have the new DC that thinks he will be good in a couple seasons. Incredibly fast at 260. Will play opposite of Burns.....next year......we hope

Johnson is a rotational DE who probably gets some DT snaps on 3rd down. Basically, a 2023 model of Gross-Matos.

The superfluousness of this roster is starting to become a concern. It's looks like they're trying to hack it with a rotation of C+ talent who are clones of each other.

The best TE rotation in the league is Pitt

Though the malaise is becoming palpable I'm hoping the coaches pull out more from the vets than we've seen- basically the equivalent of saying 'they'll be good on gameday.' We've spent 3 years of the prime of the few good players we had when Rivera was fired struggling to reach .500.

I know the draft is an exercise in fucking frustration for panther fans. The dbags at espn must kinda see carolina as the trailer park of the nfl but it stokes me even more to crave a championship one day. What can ONE player do? .. It's impossible to tell by a roster if a team will come together and be great. The jets for instance might win it all this year, or they might have a losing record. Rodgers could be toxic as hell in NY and I am getting the feeling that the relentless staggering pressure could easily break him and their whole team chemistry.
With carolina there might be the kind of spark with Young that will inspire and raise the caliber of play around him. He is a even keeled little underdog that i would bet even saban does not expect a winning season from this year. The new staff is going to be under all the heaviest pressure and i would hope that they make their players aware of that.
It's a concern that dumbass Tepper yelling "Super Bowls" and heavily suggesting that they can just throw all his spare play money into defense.
As if, the rook QB will just carry the entire offense with little help. Keep building a badass Oline you MFers or Young is gonna get demolished in a hurry. How frustrating is it that they passed on Torrence ?!?!? He didn't allow sacks!!!!! Isn't that something that you'd make a damn priority with a tiny qb?! Hopefully they know (much better than anyone else) what's best huh

I just read where they gave up a 4th round pick to the Steelers to move up from 93 to 80 to draft Johnson.

    Yeah

We have only 2 picks left, one at 114 and one at 145.

About 12 picks in today, we will take our 4th player, a couple hours later, we will take our 5th rounder......and go home.

    What will we target?

I say G/T guy with one of them, probably the first pick
    Then, maybe a CB

The bigger behind the scenes stuff will be the UDFA's this evening.
Panthers have not got anywhere near a full roster at this point, so hopefully we will get some guys coming here thinking they can make the team.

I might watch the first pick today, but after that, will catch up tonight. The band playing and constant cuts to the crowd yelling does not generate excitement in me as the NFL must think.

Then they REALLY must be high on that guy most of us probably never heard of.
I bet Tepper was drunk and out dancing to a beach boys song when that move was made

    He is a project

Big time physical tools, but pass rushing techniques are lacking.

Supposed to set the edge first and foremost, while working and developing rush skills.

At least that is what they are saying
