The subject of trade rumors for the better part of the last few years, Njoku finds himself on a pretty strong depth chart at tight end in Cleveland after the Browns signed Austin Hooper to a sizable contract during 2020 free agency and then selected FAU's Harrison Bryant in the fourth round of last year’s draft.

Bryant already out-targeted Njoku as a rookie, and while Cleveland was willing to carry Njoku’s now fully guaranteed $6.013 million fifth-year option salary through free agency, it stands to reason that they could look to move him during the draft once teams potentially miss out on their desired prospects. It also probably makes sense for Njoku to play out his contract year in a situation where he could be the TE1.

Carolina has a gaping hole at the tight end spot dating back to last season, and the departure of wide receiver Curtis Samuel to Washington freed up a lot of targets over the middle of the field, as Samuel operated primarily out of the slot. Njoku is an extremely athletic pass-catching tight end who could thrive in a Joe Brady offense generally looking to deploy as many wide receivers as possible.

From 2018 to 2020, Njoku ranked in the top 20 in yards after the catch per reception (5.2) and yards after contact per reception (2.6) among all tight ends with at least 50 targets.<<<<<<<<<


*Any ideas on a possible trade for a vet starting LT??? I know it's a tall order but IF we draft a QB (or Pitts if he should fall) then there will be no plug-n-play rookie LT left by our second pick. There has got to be an existing upgrade on another teams roster . . ..

I've read Atlanta and Arizona talking Julio Jones trade

 

I would hate for them to unload him even for a case of PBR.
Jones was used and abused there and I hope they are stuck with him and his salary

 

What team will be thin at RB (cards?), or maybe a starter goes on IR and someone desperately needs a quality RB ???
How much could Carolina get for a healthy CMC??
Who has drafted a LT and would off load their current vet LT ?
Sorry but I don’t see upgraded OT talent on the panthers roster (for the first half of this season anyway)

Our offense has soooo many weapons at the moment.

And, we seemed to stock the shelves well with FA and draft Oline.

Plus, we plugged the missing links on D with FA LB's, and a draft of a starting corner and great backup/starter DT.

Not many buttons we did not push.

Plus, we are the youngest team in the NFL as of today

 

Yes, but the most glaring need for years is still a concern. .. I’ve been looking at footage of Christensen and then you look a Slater and Darrisaw and there is a HUGE difference. He looks slow and awkward by comparison. Ol’ 67 only had the DE from Hou that was worth half a shit. .. EVERYONE else is poop so that would explain the high rating for him. .. no significant competition. Just do some film comparisons of the OTs we coulda shoulda drafted in the 1st and then watch Ol’ 67 (vs. inferior defensive talent) . ..
You will plainly see why I’m still concerned about LT. And no Little and what’s his name will not be the solution either.

We should offer Alejandro Villanueva a deal.

Or Charles Leno.

 

Villanueva is a bit older, maybe a friendlier deal for him than Leno, who is only 29

 

Yeah and both would really help us in a problem position, as well as providing good experience for Christensen to learn from.
