2021 Panther Draft Choices

can’t agree about Lawrence but agree that it’s huge where a QB goes. I remember some commentator months ago now talking about how Lawrence with the Jets and Lawrence with (can’t remember example team) a better run more talented team would be vastly different careers. As things look right now I would absolutely pity whatever rookie QB carolina would pick and expect to out perform TB.
In the past on many occasions I have been in your shoes and I chose to go ALL IN on some QB for my team. .. example; the year after Weinke was drafted there was a kid named Randy Fasani that I was sure was going to be the panthers franchise QB. From some shit I heard and seeing a little tape and mainly WANTING to believe he would be elite that is what I chose to believe. For months I went all in on that guy because I apparently really wanted/needed to believe it.
I was sure he would be Collins (or better) . ... not so much
You are definitely correct about the following . . .. TIME will tell, and honestly all the Kipers and McShays in the world are dust in the wind by comparison.

 

I'm not all in on Wilson to the degree you seem to suggest, but I think he's got a very good arm and has definite potential. Kind of like Baker Mayfield, but only if NFL defensive ends don't break him first.

If Fields goes to the right place he will have the best career of all of them. He's Cam with great accuracy, just needs to learn to go through his progressions faster.

Lance is the biggest crap shoot of the last decade. I think he's going to be better than Jordan Love though.

Jones is going to have an Alex Smith type of career. He could go to Washington and do fairly well. John Fox would love him also, he needs that kind of coach that just wants him to take what's there, don't turn the ball over, and let the defense win the game.

 

I tried to think of a successful NFL QB that came out of Ohio State and I couldn’t. Then I researched it, and there just isn’t a single buckeye QB that amounted to a damn thing in the NFL. You would think that with the power of that elite powerhouse program there would be at least one. ..
Maybe the law of averages will be on Fields’ side

You can always tell how much control an owner has over his team by how that team spends a top 10 pick. If we draft a quarterback, it's Tepper's operation. No professional GM would take Fields, Wilson, Lance or Jones in the top 10. Hopefully this is a beta trap by Fitterer.

 

Fields and Wilson are going top 10 easy, and professional GMs will be doing the selecting.

I'm not sure Lance is worth a top 10 selection though, and I'm sure Jones isn't. But if Jones is worth the 20th pick he's going earlier than that. And given that he will be going to a team that's better than the Jags or Jets, he will probably look like the best rookie QB in the class early on.

 

Yep, Jones and maybe Trask should benefit from a buyers market and could have MUCH better situations. Whoever gets to sit behind a solid vet for a year or so and gets to watch a solid defense is blessed

 

OK, so money (or lack thereof) is an issue. It is what it is, so here’s a plan to move forward :

I’m with Pres99 on getting a 2nd (this years #43 works to mock a draft) and a conditional (3rd or 2nd) in 2022 for potentially spent CMC.
Keep Davis and Armah.
Let Samuel go. Let Moten and Okung go. .. and any other OL who won’t stay for low pay.
The 3 OL picks (below) and maybe a couple more UFAs will push out the fodder. Have to make a big push for a more talented O-line
