I would think after a game or four that the coaches would have seen what their talent level was and would have called the D plays as such. I wonder who was calling the D plays while he was here? The D coordinator? Luke? Both?

It made a lot of sense before we realized just how bad Teddy is. QB is now a priority.

So what's your scenario for the Panther's on draft day?

It's all up in the air, TBH. Jags are taking Lawrence, and then the whole draft falls apart.

The Jets could trade for Watson, in which case the Texans would take a QB at two, likely Wilson or Fields. If the Jets don't trade and make the pick, it's very likely they will go QB also. If they don't, and decide to give Darnold one more year, then they're probably taking either Sewell or Chase. If that's the case though, they will be open for business to any QB needy team.

Miami is a potential trade partner. If we wanted to get to the third pick we would probably have to send our 1st, 3rd, and our 2022 1st and 3rd to make it happen. That's realistically the most I can see them giving up to get a QB. If we don't trade, and no one else does, then it's going to be Sewell or Chase.

Atlanta is tough to figure out. They could take a QB, but if they do he's going to sit for two years and that's going to be tough to justify. So they will try and trade down, but anyone behind us is going to have to give up what we would give Miami and there's no way they trade with us to let us get a QB that could give them hell twice a year. I think they do something stupid with this pick and overdraft Paye or Rousseau, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they took Smith. JJ has a year or two left of playing at a high level and Ridley is coming on strong.

Cincinnati would be a decent trade partner for us. We could trade with them for our first and third and maybe a little something extra. If we're set on getting a QB and Wilson or Fields is there, this is the trade we will have to make. If we don't, you can expect Denver or San Francisco to at least try and leapfrog us there. That goes for every pick up until ours. If they don't trade, they're taking Sewell if he's still there, Slater if he's not.

Philadelphia is going to trade down or take Patrick Surtain. If not Surtain, maybe Parsons although that's still high for a LB that didn't play last year. They seriously need speed on defense.

The Lions need a WR, and will trade down if a QB is there or they will take a WR.

Which brings us to the Panthers. I seriously doubt that anyone ahead of us will take Trey Lance, and I doubt anyone would trade ahead of us to take him either. So, if we want to roll the dice on him he's the pick. But if three of the top four picks are QB and we weren't one of the teams that got one, then we're not trading up for any reason. In fact, if this is the case I kind of think Fitterer will either take Lance or pursue a trade down. San Francisco may want to jump ahead to grab him, he seems like he would thrive in Shanahan's offense and he could sit for a year or two behind Joey G. We would be picking at 12 then, and would probably do something creative like swapping their 2nd for our 3rd to make it work.

New England at pick 15 is another candidate, but for Lance I'm not sure they want it. They would need to ship their first and second for our first and fourth to make that work. Both Washington and Chicago may be interested. Those trades would each include multiple picks on the second day, which may get expensive for them. The only other candidate I can think of would be Indianapolis, who would need to pretty much trade away their draft to do it, so that's not happening.

If we do trade down, I can see us reaching for Mac Jones, or we will take an OT/CB that's fallen a little. We're not taking Pitts, and they're probably not going for an edge rusher. I could see us taking Darrisaw or Jaycee Horn in that scenario first. So that's our scenario.

TL/DR I have no fucking idea

Thanks. That's quite a bit of possible activity after #1.
I can envision any of that coming true.
I consider Mac Jones definitely being in that second tier of QB prospects.
After Newman kinda stunk it up at the Senior Bowl I don't know when/where he ends up.
I really don't have any confidence in his ability.
This draft certainly shakes out to be more mystery than sure thing.
Would the Panthers be willing to go second tier on a QB?
Jones, Purdy, Trask, Book, Ehlinger, Mond, ...

Jones or Mond maybe. My son likes Book but he's a few years away.

Yeah its totally unknown since Hurney is gone. Had he still been here I'd say a punter was a possibility

So many needs...If Sewell is there at 8, great. He probably won’t be. So why not Darrisaw or Slater, even after a trade back?

They cannot ignore the glaring and seemingly perpetual need on the O-line.
