I think that Tepper needed to do something to get folks in the stands for the the last two home games. And letting Rivera go now gives him plenty of time to line up his next gig, which will probably be announced the day after the regular season ends.

I'm ok with the Fewell/Turner combo on the sidelines, cautiously optimistic about Scott Turner, and resigned to giving up 35 a game under the defensive leadership of Eric Washington.

I heard something I'm hoping happens. Tepper has a guy he wants and is trying to get ahead of folks to get him. Stoops?

I watched the press conference. Ron seems confident he'll get another HC job, but I'm not so sure. I don't think anyone around the league associates our successful years with Ron Rivera, and he cuts against the grain of what owners are looking for. When a reporter asked him about analytics, he got very defensive.

His best fit is as a Wade Phillips/Dick LeBeau type.

I think you're going to be proven wrong on that one. He'll have another job quickly, not every owner is as enamored of analytics as Tepper.

Maybe. I don't think he'll be at the top of anyone's list though.

That's what we all thought about Fox and look how quickly he landed on his feet.

Was reading about a list of possible candidates and some are considered because of player personnel instead of actual ability.
Two on the list leaning toward offense are:
1.Indianapolis Offensive Coordinator Nick Sirianni: Just 38 years old, Sirianni helped engineer an offense that transitioned seamlessly from Andrew Luck to Jacoby Brisset. He's also Philip Rivers' former quarterbacks coach in San Diego. He comes from a family of football coaches and spent the last decade in the NFL.
2.Minnesota Offensive Coordinator Kevin Stefanski: He interviewed for the Browns head coaching job last year and has been a huge part of the Vikings offensive resurgence this season. Stefanski is another young offensive mind with a predilection towards analytics. He should be a hot commodity this offseason.

Not sure how they would be as head coaches, but they are fresher faces and not retreads.

Rivera likely could be a DC within a day after the reg season. HC? Oh, he'll get interviews from everyone looking, if only to check the 'minority' box. I do appreciate what he did in Carolina. But it was time. If he could have only continued the success of 2015, simply learned from the SB loss how important the OLine is and built that better, he may still be here and we'd all be happier.
