Making a change

I have begun the process of becoming a Raiders fan. This is with careful thought and analysis over the last six months. I am not very optimistic about the long term future of the Carolina franchise, and I've always reserved the right to make one allegiance change in my lifetime. For the next two years, I will continue to cheer for the Panthers while the Raiders play out the string in that fucking dump in California. In 2020, I will be a Las Vegas Raiders fan. However, I will continue to support the Panthers on a alternate basis, and I will even attend an occasional game in Panthers gear - assuming it's on an opposite day/bye week of my primary team.

I have enjoyed the 23 years of pouring my heart and soul into this team - the only NFL I have ever cheered for - but I've never, truly fit in with the culture. The Silver and Black beckons me. "With a rollicking song he sweeps along, swaggering boisterously. A villain, big and bold." That's where I belong.

 

I said this when Hurney became the Permanent GM. I'm from California so Im trying to decide between the Raiders or Chargers if i do finally switch.... It would be easier to see them play in person. Still not sure yet about changing though...I cant go through another 12 years of Hurney fuck ups...

That's the case with every team now, at least from what I've seen. I have no desire to change forums - as long as the new owners don't Orwell the shit out of it.

 

The raiders look the same now in color as they did on my black and white TV as a kid. So you're good there.

In addition, it's really hard to "gay up" the Raider brand. It's a touchstone of masculinity within our culture that everyone still appreciates, even very liberal people. I really like that.
