Sure, that's fair. Cam Newton, supposed MVP, had a total QBR this season of 66.1 while Bridgewater came in at 62.7. Meanwhile Newton is taking up $40 million in cap space over the next two years compared to Bridgewater's $4 million. If it helps, think of it as Bridgewater + Josh Norman + another $4 million in cap space each of the next two seasons or Cam. Cam is around because he doesn't challenge Gettleman. He's a company man.

People forget that Gettleman ran off Jordan Gross as well. This is a pattern of behavior.

Shove your QBR up your ass. You know damn well they're not the same player. That doesn't work with me.

They aren't the same player and I never suggested otherwise. But Cam is taking up $18 million more in cap space each of the next two seasons, which is a huge difference. The most valuable asset in the NFL is a competent quarterback on a rookie contract. The Panthers had that with Cam until his rookie contract ran out and they had to make him one of the highest paid players in the league. He clearly isn't one of the best players in the league regardless of what awards are given to him, but he is pretty good and his work in the community has been outstanding. Still, signing him to that kind of contract does mean letting extremely good players go.

Every QB makes a shit ton now, though. Bridgewater will probably cost more than cam in a few years.

I have to say, though - Gettleman calling a press conference to announce this is pretty douche. I'll admit that.

The press conference today? That one was scheduled before as a pre draft day presser.
