Hopefully the Colts re-sign Luck to some ridiculous contract BEFORE we snap his legs this Fall.

I made a pledge to myself to take him going back to school personally, and to irrationally hate him and wish him injury throughout his career. So that would be great.

Me too. I would give a standing ovation as they bring the cart out to pick his ass up.

I don't know if I want to wish injury on him but I would seriously love to see him develop a severe case of whatever Jake had against the Cardinals in the playoffs

NFL TV is calling it basically a series of one year deals. That yes money is guaranteed IF he's on the team after year three. Casserly called it VERY team friendly. Collin have you seen this? It may be better than previously reported. If cam sucks we can cut bait after three years.

The Panthers can cut Cam after three years if they're willing to take a $15 million cap hit to do so, because he would still have $9 million of pro-rated signing bonus and $6 million of pro-rated option bonus left on his contract at that point. That's less than his cap charge of $21.5 million in 2018, but the difference is so minor for a quarterback that it won't happen even if he stinks, only if he's disabled due to a serious injury. The team could and might cut bait after four years since the cap savings would be $14.7 million.

There's nothing about that which is specially structured to be team friendly, though, so I have no idea what those guys were talking about. All NFL contracts are limited to pro-rating the signing bonus over up to five years, so there won't be much signing bonus money left on anyone's contract after year four. Ben Roethlisberger just restructured his contract with the Steelers and they can save $10.8 million ($23.2m vs $12.4m) by cutting him after the third year or $17 million after the fourth. The Dolphins can save $11.9 million ($22.1 vs $10.2m) by cutting Ndamukong Suh after the third year or $23.545 after the fourth. Like I said, all contracts will play out that way because of the five year limit on bonus money pro-ration.

The Cam contract is really similar to what Joe Flacco and Jay Cutler received, with some extra money on top because his is more recent. All of those guys are mediocre quarterbacks year after year. Ryan Tannehill signed a team friendly deal because his contract only has $11.5 million in bonus money compared to Cam's $32.5 million ($22.5m signing bonus & $10m option bonus that kicks in next year). Andy Dalton only got $12 million in bonus money. Colin Kaepernick only got $12,328,766 in bonus money. So no, Newton's contract is not team friendly or a series of one year deals. It is not better than previously reported, unfortunately, but I genuinely appreciate you coming to ask if NFL Network was correct instead of automatically believing it. I wish they were.
