Thanks for pointing out basic math. I was concerned we'd see 25-27m cap #s in the out years, not what is basically a straight line amortization for the duration of the new money years.

Next time you use hyperbole, be a little more clear.

The cap has risen from 123 to 143 over the last 2 years and will probably top 150 this year. So this contract won't affect us like the similar deals have hamstrung the teams that did these kind of deals 2-3 years ago have to this point. W

I didn't use hyperbole and I explained my complaint clearly. Furthermore, your fear of an outrageous base salary in the final year or two wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing since it would mean that some of the contract was funny money neither the team nor the agent expected to be paid.

I'm assuming that Charles Johnson gets cut after this season, which would save $11 million, then cutting Jonathan Stewart after the 2016 season would save another $4.75 million. Unfortunately all of that and then some will be eaten up by new contracts for Kuechly, Star, and Short.

Well at least for now the cap is going up every year. CJ has something like a 20 mil cap figure this year, and we're in decent shape. There is still TD's extension which can be worked with a lot of it up front I think. Likely we can absorb a couple of big deals without being the '00s Colts.

Yep gonna be impossible to keep all the guys who earn a good second contract, hopefully they pick the right ones.

    Wonder what happens with Norman.

    Cam's contract is just fine.
You either re-sign your guy, or play russian roulette with scrubs like Tebow and Jimmy Clausen for years.
20 mil a year is standard QB resigning money these days, like it or not. Just wait til Indy has to fork up 25 Mil + for that amish lumberjack next year, and Cam's contract will look a whole lot better.

I'd rather pay that for Luck than this for Cam.

You're correct that this was inevitable. It's like a prostate exam. You need to do it because not doing it is too much of a risk, but there's no reason to pretend that you enjoy it. Unless of course you're Big Red and that's the highlight of your year.

odd for a team to invest this much money in a league dominated by cheaters.
