No, Gettleman is better. It's a bit like saying being showered in piss is better than being dunked in diarrhea mixed with cat vomit, but it's still better. They both suck, but I guess time has made us forget how truly horrific Hurney was. He traded up for Armanti Edwards - and that probably wasn't even one of his top ten blunders.

 

Time will tell. I know you believe that, and maybe you're right....but that's something that hasn't been proven yet, despite saying it's so.

 

It's been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Hurney was a horrific GM. As a man, I respect him a million times more than Fatty McFuckyou, but that doesn't change the fact that he was atrocious at his job. Gettleman is only in year two, and while it's painfully obvious that he never should have gotten a GM job, I don't think it's even physically possible for him to wreck this franchise the same way Hurney did. The lone upside to Gettleman is that he won't destroy the cap once JR pulls the plug on that fat ass. Being the polar opposite of that extreme isn't much better, but it at least makes things easier for the next GM to fix.

 

Not handing out huge contracts and not trading away future early round draft picks makes him better by default. But they both suck.

 

Oh, one other thing I noticed before I quit watching was that Ed Dickson should never play another snap. I think someone else mentioned that after a previous game. Brandon Williams cannot possibly be a worse blocker than Dickson.

 

Lol. He's about to hand out a mega contract to an average QB, whom he doesn't even pretend to bother to protect, one who is becoming a cripple, and losing confidence and whatever mechanics he did have so fast that David Carr will look like Joe fucking Montana by comparison soon.

He's utterly dismantled a playoff team, and in just less than a year, we look like a team that is so underwater it could take a half a decade to make moderately healthy. He's going to get the QB killed possibly, and because of his inept handling of the roster, is setting him back to ground zero, possibly destroying his career.

You don't think Gettleman can destroy this franchise? Brother, he already has. His chaos and destruction has been nothing short of breathtaking.

ALL he's done is draft poor, let the players from previous drafts walk elsewhere (ignoring LaFell for one, and when he was finally ready to address him because he failed with all the other receivers he courted, LaFell had already decided to leave) so we don't even have them, recruit poorly and cut players. He's just minused off. Thats ALL. He signed RIvera after one goddamn playoff year in which we were punked by a team that we were better than.

Agreed. WIlliams has looked pretty good when he's been in there.

 

can we stop pretending that the playoff appearance wasn't fluky? It was keyed by the defense playing over their heads and the offense not fucking it up.
