"If you trust your evaluation process, don't fight city hall,'' Gettleman said.

WTF does that even mean? He is making all this shit up and trying to come across as the quaint yankee

He's also very, very selective in his own evaluation of himself. He kept throwing out Klein as a mid/late round gym while not even mentioning Barner or Kugbila. I guess 1/3 will always be the standard around here.

He already claimed Kugzilla was a 2014 pick, I heard. Or read. And it was pretty clear he was a project. I don't think we needed a project last year from our third pick.

Other side of the coin is as much as Gettleman has pissed me off, I can't criticize someone not getting instant production from the 6th round.

A fucking HATE it when GMs use that logic. If you have a surplus of picks and decide to use one to basically redshirt a guy (like SF did with Lattimore) then it's a fair argument. Kugbila was just a flop who we're not willing to cut ties with yet.

I don't know we could declare him a flop yet, he practiced twice or something. So I have hope (silly as it may be). I have to think they were fooled though. As bad as we needed OL we didn't need a project there.

While we're talking about Kugbila, for years I have bitched about these small school guys in earlier rounds. I know some do well, and I'm always hopeful the scouts will be proven right, but I'd rather gamble on guys who faced better competition and probably had a little better coaching, etc.

He's a flop. He's a guy with nice measurables who was pretty average at a small school. Bastard stashed him on IR to avoid the embarrassment of releasing a 4th round pick.

Speaking of Lattimore I wonder if healthy will he split carries with Gore who has to be running low in NFL gas

I'm guessing it will be a pretty even split between Gore, Kendall Hunter, and Lattimore if Marcus has a good camp.
