Bottom line is Fox and Elway wanted nothing to do with Tebow and were looking at a bad situation (due to the huge Tebow fanbase) until Peyton gave them the out. I call that Luck, pardon the pun.

Yeah, everyone agrees that they lucked into Peyton. The issue is you characterizing a team coming off a playoff run and playoff victory as "a major train wreck situation dead ahead" and "a bad situation." That's the part I'll never understand about all the Tebow hate. Lots of people pretend that they're football fans and that they only care about winning, but then they constantly shit on a guy who won games. Those people aren't actually football fans, they just want to be entertained and didn't find Tebow's style of play entertaining.

I'll use one of your phrases: Everybody agreed that Fox and Elway wanted to be rid of Tebow.

They did not want him. They wanted to win a championship and did not believe he could do it. I believe a lot of people thought that but I'll just say it's my opinion.

Perhaps I should have used the word untenable rather than bad.

Trainwreck is what they were headed for with the fanbase, if they tried to get rid of him. Until Peyton gave them the out. Onlyway they could have pulled it off without a shitstorm. Which is all time lucky.

I agree with all that. I said at the time that Fox was only playing Tebow because they expected him to fail so they would have an excuse to get rid of him. I even agree that there was no realistic possibility to win a championship with Tebow unless he improved dramatically.

    Shula, cough cough.

I think frustrating is a better word to use, 55 minutes of horrible QB'ing followed by a miracle finish.

Seriously, Tebow had like the worst pass completion percentage in the league for 2 years, there is a reason he isn't even playing anymore.
A 46% passer the year the Broncos went 8-8 and reached the playoffs where he only completed 40% of those passes.

Sanchez won a few playoff games too. I wonder where he will be next year.

Saying he's not in the league anymore because he's a shitty passer is a cop out, since the league is currently littered with shitty passers.

Remember that I criticized Mike McCoy ferociously in the Tebow discussions. I noted that Tebow had a QB rating over 90 on passes other than ones to the sidelines, and yet Denver called more passes to the sideline than any other area of the field.

And Chad Pennington has the highest completion percentage of all-time. That's not the greatest statistic.

Yeah, his faith. The guy took a terrible team to the playoffs and won a playoff game. It's fine to note his numerous warts and even I've said he was well below average for a starting quarterback, but even if you don't like him as a starter it's impossible to argue he's not better than a lot of the backups in the NFL. Tebow isn't on a roster because he got black-balled for things that had nothing to do with his performance.

Have you not been reading the news? One anonymous GM has already said he wants Sanchez to compete for their starting job and several others reportedly have the same intention. Dating a 17 year old is fine, as is butt-fumbling, but being an outspoken (to an admittedly obnoxious degree) Christian is not.

Do you really believe Tim isn't playing QB in the NFL because he is Christian?

Its like you're saying he is too popular to play football. America has about as much religious fervor as the middle east.

If he could complete simple passes to the sidelines he'd likely still be playing.

Not just being a Christian, but being so public about his beliefs. And yeah, everyone knows that's the reason.

Don't do this to yourself again. The guy took a terrible team to the playoffs and won a playoff game. As I said, even if you don't think he's one of the 32 best quarterbacks in the world, no one can honestly say he isn't better than a lot of the backups currently getting paid. Teams don't want him because the hate so many people have toward his faith makes him a distraction, not because he isn't good enough as a player.

    edit:
The statistical parallels between Tebow and Vince Young are really striking. Ask yourself why Young kept getting chances while Tebow never got to start another game after making the second round of the playoffs.

If he was a better player a team in need of a qb would take on the hassle of his in your face faith brings. He is average. Average isnt worth the headache
